Waste results from a lack of efficiency

Waste poses a dual threat, acting as a significant source of pollution with repercussions on climate and biodiversity. Excessive generation and improper disposal contribute to climate deterioration and disrupt ecosystems, jeopardizing our planet's delicate balance.

As economic activities increase, waste production is on the rise, intensifying environmental concerns. The inadequacy in managing this surge underscores the urgent need for sustainable waste solutions.

2 Btons

of solid waste generated worldwide in a year

8 Mtons

of plastic end up in the ocean worldwide in a year.

8 to 10%

of global greenhouse gas emissions are due to food waste.

Singapore to become a “Zero Waste Nation”

Aware of the urgency to enhance resource efficiency and waste management, the Ministry of the Environment & Water Resources and the National Environment Agency lauched the Zero Waste Masterplan in 2019 to shift towards a circular economy, maximizing resource efficiency and resilience. It's a vital step towards preserving landfill space and curbing CO2 emissions. Singapore's Government has set ambitious 2030 targets: a 70% recycling rate and a 30% reduction in daily landfill waste. Join us in realizing the vision of a "Zero Waste Nation."

What they say about Waste

“Extraction of materials is a chief culprit in climate change and biodiversity loss—a challenge that will only worsen unless the world urgently undertakes a systemic reform of resource use, [...] Such a reform is both necessary and possible.”

“Excessive consumption of resources also generates waste and emissions, worsening the climate crisis. We must reduce waste and maximize resource efficiency. We also need to diversify our supply sources and promote circularity to reuse and recycle resources.”

“We need those who produce waste to design products that use fewer resources and materials, while managing waste across production cycles and extending the lives of the products they sell. […] It’s time to clean up our world, and make progress towards circular, zero-waste economies — for people and planet alike.”
